Chatsworth House in Derbyshire has been part of our region’s history for almost 500 years. Built first in Tudor times and later transformed into the Baroque landmark we see today, it has always been a place of change and continuity. It remains a family home, a working estate and a place for learning.

This year Chatsworth ( Chatsworth & The Devonshire Group ) is marking that history with a major project to restore one of its most recognisable features, the Cascade.

The Cascade restoration

The Cascade is a water staircase in the heart of the garden. Water flows from the top of the hill, over 23 stone steps and into the pool below. For more than three centuries visitors have enjoyed its sight and sound. Over time the structure has worn and Chatsworth has launched a large-scale restoration to secure it for the future.

We have joined the project as a local business supporter. Through the “Sponsor a Stone” scheme we now hold Step 12, Stone 01 in the Cascade. Every stone will be lifted during the works and, when the project is finished, the Trust will publish a full plan showing the new location of each one.

Why we got involved

At Scenariio we focus on building infrastructure and technologies that improve efficiency and comfort. The Cascade appealed to us because it is a system that has worked for centuries using nothing but gravity. It is simple, resilient and built to give enjoyment. Supporting its restoration felt like the right move for us because it connects engineering, sustainability and community. These values sit at the heart of our work.

“I’m so proud that we’ve been able to support the restoration of the cascade water feature at Chatsworth House. It’s such an important part of our local heritage and being the first local company to donate makes this even more special. I’m excited to see this iconic feature brought back to life for everyone to enjoy.”

Looking ahead

Chatsworth continues to evolve and the Cascade remains central to that story. By supporting this project we are helping to protect a landmark that inspires people across the region. We are also adding our name to a community effort that will keep Chatsworth’s garden alive for the future.

When the works are complete, we look forward to standing by Step 12 and seeing the Cascade brought back to life, ready for the next generations to enjoy.
