As 2025 draws to a close, it’s a good moment to reflect on what has been a significant year for Scenariio. From record sales and new client wins to deeper partnerships and service diversification, the past twelve months have marked an important step forward for the business.
Below, our Managing Director and Operations Director share their reflections on the year, the progress made and the momentum building as we head into 2026.
Rob’s perspective:
2025 has been a standout year for us: our best year ever for sales. It’s been great to see continued repeat business from our valued existing accounts, alongside some significant wins with new clients.
This year also marks a major transition as we prepare to leave The Chocolate Factory, our home for the past 5 years. It’s a space that holds so many great memories and has been the foundation for our growth. Moving to our new offices is a big step forward, and it’s exciting to see our company branding and website being developed in tandem. We’re looking forward to launching these alongside our new home.
The AV team and meeting room technology have continued to evolve and grow, becoming an increasingly important part of the services, we offer. It’s pleasing to see how the teams have adapted and expanded as the business grows. While there have been challenges along the way, the resilience and determination everyone has shown to keep driving the business forward is impressive.
As we head into 2026, the momentum we’ve built shows no signs of slowing. With new offices, a refreshed brand, and a strong team, we’re well-positioned for another exciting year ahead.
Russell’s perspective:
2025 has seem some interesting diversification for several of our key customers from just providing pure network cabling projects to starting to use more of our services and smart solution offerings.
We have seen some key customers undergo transformation projects that have made use of IP based systems to improve business efficiencies and use the technology in new ways. We have also been able to help some of our key customers as their business grows using both incremental services, and our services and staff, to underpin their staff members without the need to add additional head costs to their businesses.
We have found that there has been an increase in the managed service offering covering a multitude of technologies and services from us, all under one umbrella. This diversity has allowed us to support our customers better, by offering more support-based services than just pure network cabling infrastructure installations. This approach has also strengthened our relationships with several of our key customers, as we are new working more closely with them in a larger variety of areas.
We have seen substantial growth in the business as a whole during the year, especially around the AV side of the business, and we have been able to flex our project delivery teams and our approach to be able to continue to deliver installations to the same quality levels.
Roll-on 2026!
Innovation, in practice
Together, these reflections highlight a year defined by growth, adaptability and closer customer relationships. With a broader service offering, strong delivery teams, a new office and a refreshed brand on the horizon, Scenariio enters 2026 with confidence and clear momentum.

This month marks a significant milestone for us at Scenariio: our 12th anniversary. On November 18th, we celebrate over a decade of growth and innovation.
Twelve years ago, the technological landscape looked very different. As we reflect on this journey, we see a story not just about our company, but about the pace of change in the world of smart building technology and how we have evolved with it.
This anniversary marks a significant milestone. It is a testament to our team’s expertise, our commitment to clients, and our vision for a smarter, more connected future. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the key changes over the past 12 years and how Scenariio has continued to provide value through technological growth.
The Technological Tides of the Last Decade
Think back to 2013. The smart building concept was still in its early stages, often limited to basic automation systems. The Internet of Things (IoT) was barely on the horizon, with little awareness of its potential impact on commercial real estate. While data collection was happening, it was rarely used to drive meaningful insights or improvements.
Over the past 12 years, we have witnessed a significant transformation driven by several key advancements:
- The Rise of IoT: The proliferation of connected devices has been the single most significant driver of change. From sensors monitoring occupancy to smart lighting systems that adjust based on natural light, IoT has turned buildings from passive structures into dynamic, responsive environments.
- The Power of Data Analytics: Simply collecting data is no longer enough. The real revolution has been in our ability to analyse vast datasets to uncover actionable insights. Predictive maintenance, space optimisation, and energy consumption patterns are now understood with a clarity that was previously impossible. This data-driven approach empowers building managers to make informed decisions that enhance efficiency and user experience.
- Cloud Computing and Scalability: The shift to cloud-based platforms has enabled unprecedented scalability and accessibility. It allows for centralised management of building systems across multiple locations, real-time data access and seamless integration of new technologies without the need for cumbersome on-premise hardware.
- A Focus on User-Centric Design: Technology is now designed around the human experience. The focus has shifted from simply automating functions to creating environments that actively support the health, well-being and productivity of the people within them. This includes everything from air quality monitoring to personalised lighting and temperature control.
Scenariio’s Evolution: Growing with Purpose
Looking back, our journey has been defined by a willingness to adapt and a commitment to progress. In 2013, our days were spent pulling cables and installing the very first sensors in commercial spaces. Fast forward to 2025, and we’re working with clients to demonstrate meaningful carbon savings, wellbeing outcomes and operational efficiency through intelligent buildings.
The technology has transformed almost beyond recognition but our purpose remains the same. We continue to connect systems to help people and buildings perform at their best.
From Network Cabling to Intelligent Infrastructure
Our origins are rooted in providing robust, reliable network infrastructure. While this remains a core pillar of our expertise, we quickly recognised that the true potential lay in what that infrastructure could power. This realisation drove our evolution from a provider of structured cabling to architects of intelligent building solutions.
We understood that a building’s network is its central nervous system. With the increasing number of connected devices and their power requirements, ensuring this core infrastructure is designed and implemented correctly has become more critical than ever.
By designing and implementing future-proof Power over Ethernet (PoE) and intelligent infrastructure, we create the right foundation upon which true smart building functionality can be built. This strategic foresight allows our clients to adopt new technologies as they emerge, ensuring their investments are secure for the long term.
Championing Data-Driven Solutions
As data became the new currency of efficiency, we honed our expertise in helping clients harness it. We moved beyond installation and into consultation, working with businesses to identify key performance indicators and deploy sensor technology to capture the right data.
Today, we deliver solutions that provide a holistic view of building performance. Our platforms help clients understand exactly how their spaces are used, identify opportunities for energy savings, and create environments that are perfectly tuned to the needs of their occupants. This commitment to data is what transforms a connected building into an intelligent one.
Pioneering a Sustainable and Healthy Built Environment
In recent years, the conversation has rightly turned toward sustainability and employee well-being. We have been at the forefront of this movement, integrating solutions that not only reduce a building’s carbon footprint but also enhance the health and productivity of its inhabitants.
From smart LED lighting systems that dramatically cut energy consumption to environmental sensors that monitor CO2 levels, humidity, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), our solutions provide a direct path to achieving ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. We empower our clients to build spaces that are good for the planet and great for people.
Looking Ahead: A New Chapter Begins
Our 12-year journey of evolution and innovation has led us to where we are today. We are incredibly proud of the expertise we have built and the projects we have delivered. We’re excited to announce the upcoming launch of our new website.
This new website reflects who Scenariio is today: a leader in intelligent building technology, a trusted partner in innovation and a visionary for the future of the built environment. The site will offer a clearer, more insightful look into our solutions, our process and the benefits we deliver. It represents our readiness for the next chapter of technological advancement.
As we celebrate the past 12 years, our gaze is fixed firmly on the future. The pace of change will only accelerate, and we are more prepared than ever to lead the way. Thank you to our incredible team, our valued partners and our forward-thinking clients who have been with us on this journey. The best is yet to come.

Chatsworth House in Derbyshire has been part of our region’s history for almost 500 years. Built first in Tudor times and later transformed into the Baroque landmark we see today, it has always been a place of change and continuity. It remains a family home, a working estate and a place for learning.
This year Chatsworth ( Chatsworth & The Devonshire Group ) is marking that history with a major project to restore one of its most recognisable features, the Cascade.
The Cascade restoration
The Cascade is a water staircase in the heart of the garden. Water flows from the top of the hill, over 23 stone steps and into the pool below. For more than three centuries visitors have enjoyed its sight and sound. Over time the structure has worn and Chatsworth has launched a large-scale restoration to secure it for the future.
We have joined the project as a local business supporter. Through the “Sponsor a Stone” scheme we now hold Step 12, Stone 01 in the Cascade. Every stone will be lifted during the works and, when the project is finished, the Trust will publish a full plan showing the new location of each one.
Why we got involved
At Scenariio we focus on building infrastructure and technologies that improve efficiency and comfort. The Cascade appealed to us because it is a system that has worked for centuries using nothing but gravity. It is simple, resilient and built to give enjoyment. Supporting its restoration felt like the right move for us because it connects engineering, sustainability and community. These values sit at the heart of our work.
“I’m so proud that we’ve been able to support the restoration of the cascade water feature at Chatsworth House. It’s such an important part of our local heritage and being the first local company to donate makes this even more special. I’m excited to see this iconic feature brought back to life for everyone to enjoy.”
Rob Pritchard, Managing Director at Scenariio
Looking ahead
Chatsworth continues to evolve and the Cascade remains central to that story. By supporting this project we are helping to protect a landmark that inspires people across the region. We are also adding our name to a community effort that will keep Chatsworth’s garden alive for the future.
When the works are complete, we look forward to standing by Step 12 and seeing the Cascade brought back to life, ready for the next generations to enjoy.

Scenariio was one of many local businesses invited to contribute to the creation of Saplings, a dedicated children’s counselling and therapy centre built as an addition to the hospice’s site in Risley, Derbyshire.
Nestled among beautiful countryside and surrounded by peaceful, volunteer-maintained gardens, Saplings was designed to provide a safe, calming space for children experiencing bereavement and emotional distress.
As part of the project, Scenariio installed circadian smart lighting throughout the building. The intelligent system changes subtly throughout the day to reflect natural daylight patterns, helping regulate children’s sleep and mood by avoiding disruptive artificial light.
While the centre is now in daily use, the public can still explore the thoughtful design and technology inside via a virtual tour (CLICK HERE TO START THE TOUR)
The donation from Scenariio will make a significant difference to the hospice’s front-line services.
Natalie Godrich, Relationship Manager at Treetops Hospice, said:
“This incredible gift could fund 32 nights of Hospice at Home nursing care, or provide 101 one-to-one bereavement counselling sessions for a child or adult. That’s life-changing support – and we’re truly grateful to the Scenariio team for continuing to stand with us.”
Rob Pritchard, Managing Director at Scenariio, commented:
“Our relationship with Treetops began during the DIY SOS build, when we installed our smart lighting in the new Saplings centre. After the project, we stayed in touch and learned more about the hospice’s vital work and the ongoing need for funding. Their passion and impact moved us to name Treetops our charity of the year. We’re proud to offer this donation and we’re looking forward to getting more involved by volunteering later this year.”

Treetops Hospice in the spotlight!
Treetops Hospice in Risley will be one of a wide range of topics for discussion when delegates gather for the Workplace Technology Conference, which takes place at the Chocolate Factory in Siddals Road on Thursday (June 6).
The event will look at the ways in which innovation is changing the world of commercial and public sector property with the keynote speaker, Andrew Hughes, set to address the audience about his work advising the NHS on using technology to improve patient outcomes.
Andrew is the founder and managing director of ANHH Consulting, which is based at Keele University and works with organisations across a variety of sectors on ways to make positive changes to behaviour and processes in order to achieve their aims.
There will also be a talk from conference organisers, Derby-based IT and smart technology firm Scenariio, whose technical director George Pritchard will discuss the company’s work inside Treetops’ new therapy centre for children who have experienced a bereavement.
The building was erected as part of the BBC Children In Need’s DIY: SOS last year and Scenariio fitted a host of devices, including human-centric LED lighting and movement sensors, which are all linked to a Smartengine device to provide a snapshot of how the building is operating and is being used by those inside.
Treetops will also have a stand at the event and delegates will be invited to make a donation – and enter a raffle – in order to raise money to help it carry out its work.
Rob Pritchard, managing director of Scenariio, said: “Smart technology is transforming the experience of both operating and working in commercial properties across a wide range of industries but the potential benefits for healthcare are huge because of the possible cost-savings and improvement of the user experience. Andrew has direct experience of introducing technology into the NHS, which studies show could save millions of pounds each year on energy bills and improve patient wellbeing by investing in smart technology. I’m sure his talk will be fascinating, while we’re also looking forward to talking about our work at Treetops, who we are also delighted to be supporting throughout the day.”
Other industry experts taking part in the event include Simone Vieira, who is director, systems engineering Europe for Commscope, a firm which supplies communications equipment such as broadband systems, cabling and network cabinets, and Tim Miscovich, chief commercial of smartengine wtec, whose products link so-called smart devices such as LED lights and wall switches.
There will also be three panel discussions during the day looking at the cost-savings of intelligent buildings, integrating technology into workspace design and the role of AI in the workplace.
Registration for the event is free, but attendees will be invited to make a donation to Treetops Hospice.

A leading voice in the global smart building industry is set to fly to the UK and tell delegates at a Derby event how cost-cutting and tradition are keeping the country’s commercial properties “stuck in the Dark Ages”.
Tim’s firm manufacturers smartengine, a network-powered lighting and sensor technology which provides energy savings and sensor data such as electricity usage, air quality, temperature and room occupancy levels to the building’s management system to enable operators to get a snapshot of their space.
The company has worked in buildings operated by some of the world’s biggest best-known companies, including Google, Meta, Apple, PWC and Gymshark.
And it has also fitted its smart building technology within high-profile projects in New York City, including on the 61st floor of SL Green’s iconic ONE Vanderbilt building and Remy-Cointreau’s new NY HQ, at Rudin Management’s 3 Times Square.
Smart building technology has been widely adopted and understood in the USA, which has embraced its benefits including sustainability, cost-savings and extra comfort that it delivers for the building’s occupants.
By contrast, Tim says, the UK’s take-up of the technology has been disappointingly slow, which he says is due to cultural attitudes towards building methods, taking risks and spending.
He said: “Compared to the United States, I would say that when it comes to smart building technology the UK, and in many respects wider Europe, is, sadly, stuck in the Dark Ages. Linking the horizontal and vertical technologies of a building is now becoming a standard practice in the US and other parts of the world and we are increasingly working with smaller, less well-known firms that are investing in these technologies so they can have the most intelligent, sustainable and user-friendly space. Saving energy is at the heart of this. Some people think that because we drive around in big trucks in the States we’re free and easy when it comes to energy use in our buildings, but they couldn’t be more wrong, because reducing energy waste is good business and we’re all about doing things that make sense. The UK has made some strides, but it hasn’t got there yet with technology that has been readily available, for the last 10 years. I would equate it to the conversion from analogue to VoIP phones.”
Tim will also talk about one bright spot in the UK’s property landscape – Treetops Hospice in Risley, just eight miles away from where the conference is taking place.
The hospice is home to one of the UK healthcare sector’s most advanced buildings, a therapy centre for children who have experienced a bereavement, was erected as part of the BBC Children In Need’s DIY: SOS last year.
Among the hundreds of plasterers, carpenters and landscape gardeners who gave up their time to create the project was a team from Derby firm Scenariio, which fitted wtec’s smartengine technology which integrates with the BMS to provide real-time data on aspects such as energy optimisation, human-centric lighting and indoor air quality.
Tim said: “It’s a perfect example of how everything works together to make the building more energy efficient and comfortable for the people who use it and I’m looking forward to a visit when I’m in Derby.”
The one-day Workplace Conference is being held at Derby’s Chocolate Factory venue, which is downstairs from Scenariio’s offices in Siddals Road. The event will offer a blend of exhibits and trade stands as well as discussions from Tim and other industry experts looking at issues including how AI can help create intelligent buildings that can offer occupants a more tailored and individual user experience.
George Pritchard, technical director of Scenariio, said: “Tim is right at the cutting-edge of the smart building industry and we’re really looking forward to what he has to say. Although he pulls no punches, his comments on how the UK is falling behind when it comes to smart building technology will certainly get people thinking and, we hope, will help to shake up the industry.”
Registration for the event is free, but attendees will be invited to make a donation to Treetops Hospice. For more information and to book your place, visit https://www.workplacetechnology.io/

The event is being organised by smart infrastructure equipment and IT firm Scenariio, which is one of the region’s leading firms offering intelligent tech for the workplace, in conjunction with a host of world-leading technology providers.
It is being held at the Chocolate Factory, home to Derby’s Bustler Marker street food event, and follows in the footsteps of a similar conference, which attracted attendees from across the UK and from further afield, including Germany and Holland, last year.
George Pritchard, technical director of Scenariio, said: “Last year’s event was a huge success and showed how much interest there is in technology that meets the demands of companies who’re looking to attract and retain talent while delivering on their carbon reduction targets. An American study showed that simply by monitoring and automating just three things, your HVAC system, lighting and window shading, companies can save up to 50% of their annual energy bill, while swapping traditional lightings with human centric LED lights can improve workers’ well-being. This smart building technology is accessible to everyone, while a new generation of smart building technology powered by artificial intelligence, which is now being developed at a tremendous pace. This will all be explored in what promises to be an exciting conference, which is why we hope that as many building operators, architects, developers and landlords will come along to find out more.”
